Global Transportation Industry Council
The CED formed the Global Transportation Industry Council Spring of 2011 as part of its new five-year work program to raise awareness of business growth opportunities in Will County for target industry companies and to assist with the recruitment and expansion of these target companies to create higher paying jobs.
A current focus of the Global Transportation Industry Council is planning for the 2012 Global Logistics Summit. This is the sixth year the CED has held this event which is designed to bring together a broad-based group of industry professionals around key issues related to logistics growth and employment with a focus on Will County impacts.
The CED is also involved in other transportation initiatives including the Illiana Expressway, a Southwest Will County Transportation Management Association (TMA) and the IL Route 53 corridor plan.
Advanced Manufacturing, Food Processing and Energy Council
The CED formed the Advanced Manufacturing, Food Processing and Energy Council in the Spring of 2011 as well. Its purpose is to raise awareness of business growth opportunities in the targeted industries, assist in the recruitment and expansion of these businesses to create higher paying jobs and to provide business connections with the council members.
The council is busy developing a two-year work plan, researching and surveying current businesses in the County within these industries and identifying the advantages of doing business in Will County to further solicit companies outside Will County to consider relocating or expanding in Will County.
