Will County is a natural business magnet for many reasons:

    • Since the 2000 Census, Will County was estimated to have gained 171,320 residents, by far the largest numerical increase posted by the state’s 102 counties and 16th highest among the nation’s 3,141 counties (US Census Bureau)
    • Will County’s population has more than doubled (adding 372,680 residents) between 1985 and July 2008, increasing from 328,511 to 701,191 (US Census Bureau, July 2008 estimate)
    • In the year from July 1, 2006 to July 1, 2007, Will County’s population grew 16,111
    • Will County is set to become the state’s 2nd largest county by 2030, behind only Cook County (NIPC)
    • The Chicago Metropolitan Area Agency for Planning (formerly Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC)) projects that Will County’s population will exceed 1.1 million by the year 2030
    • The number of Will County business establishments exceeded 20,000 in 2008 (Claritas 2008)

In 2008, the total amount of industrial square footage surpassed 128,371,181 SF.  Additional acreage is designated for a proposed intermodal yard and industrial park in Crete, a distribution park and business park in Southwestern Will County, a business park in Romeoville, and a proposed industrial office/warehouse condominium facility in Bolingbrook.
